The 1996 Davis Family Reunion was held on August 11, 1996 at the Pretty Lake Resort in South Milford, IN. We had an attendance of 73 people. Last years minutes were presented for everyone's approval and no changes were made. Marcy Zeissig, President, asked for the family reports:
Dwight Davis- Jim Davis did the reporting. Ken Davis married Nancy April 13, 1996 in a Quaker ceremony. Nancy is in computers. Ken's business is going well. Matt is in engineering school. Jenny is at Appalachian State as a senior in psychology. Jenny went to Sweden and Ken, Nancy and Megan to Europe and joined her. Kay Frey has a day care and teaching center in her home. Her daughter Betsy has another year in dental hygiene at South Bend. Ben just graduated from high school and is going to IUPU in Fort Wayne in engineering. Nate loves his sports. Naomi still in home school. Bob has a new job with Family and Children Services as business manager. Jim and Roseanne began home schooling this year. The kids are responding very well. They took a trip east to see early American life first hand. Jim has a new job at Mayco Plastics. Fred and Karen's daughter Carrie was married to Chad Hindenlang on July 20, 1996. Fred and Mike went on a fishing fly-in to Canada in June. Rod and Carolyn Ovitt are buying a new home. Rod has developed a new ergonomically correct chair to market. Mike began a new business called Profician Computing. He has also been helping Jim remodel. Carole Davis plans to retire at the end of the year and try spending part of time in Florida. Anne and Bill moved to Seattle with his company. Zachary Tyler was born July 9. They built a home there. Anne has a job with Motorola. Marge Davis is going to be bringing her Mom to stay with her for awhile. Her stepfather died this past year.
Bob Davis- Joan reported for the Bob Davis clan. Larry and Kathy's son Jade is now an official pilot out of LA for United. He commutes from Utah to LA for work. Wes is still working for Larry at Bob Davis Automotive. Business is great. Stacey is working at Aetna Insurance. Her son's Kyle and Cody are just fine and getting bigger every day. Claudia is at Goshen College with a 4.0 average and has won several scholarships. She is still living in Napannee. Jenny is living in Elkhart and had a baby boy this year, Zachary, born 10-02-95. Mandie is living in Napannee and also had a baby boy, Casey Dylan, on 7-16-96. Nathan will start high school this year and is an avid rollerblader. Marcy and Tom are still working hard, Tom at Hughes Defense and Marcy as a Pampered Chef and part-time office manager. Marcy earned a trip with Pampered Chef to Florida and Joan went along as Marcy's partner. They joined Julie and her whole family there. They all had a wonderful time. Jason will be a senior at Snider High School this year and is playing tennis on the Varsity team. He is working at Bill Knapp's Restaurants. Betsy is going to Snider for the first time this year and doesn't know whether she's excited or scared. Both Jason and Betsy are very involved in the church youth group at Woodburn Missionary. Robbie is going into the 6th grade, his first year at Blackhawk Middle School. He loves basketball and is almost the tallest kid in his class. Julie is still working full time as a Pampered Chef Advanced Director and earned a deluxe, all expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World for her entire family! Steve is with Airtex and has earned another trip for high sales, this time to Puerto Rico. He took Josh with him as Julie was still tied up with a Pampered Chef convention. Josh is a senior this year at Snider and is on the tennis team. He is driving now and helps to drive everyone around. Jessica is still singing and was chosen for a special school choir and she was the lead for the summer play at Snider High School. She is also a cheerleader. Val is at Blackhawk Middle School in the 8th grade and is a cheerleader also. They are all very involved in the church youth group. Missy will be going into the 4th grade this fall. Dean and Sue's daughter Brooke graduated from Northrup High School and will be attending IUPU this fall. Andrea will be starting high school at Snider this fall. Kasey has been busy with baseball this summer. Dean coached his team to second in the state. Sue is teaching at Blackhawk Middle School and really loves it. She says she would do it for free! She is also working on her masters at IUPU. Dean is still manager of JO Mory's. Shelly and Tim celebrated their 10 year anniversary this year. They are expecting their third in November. Hannah and Pete are doing fine. Hannah is reading well above her grade level and loves school. She is in the first grade. Pete will start preschool this fall.
Dean Davis- Dean and Jerry went to Florida in March. Greg flew in from Guam. It was the first time to see him in a long time. Steve, Cindy and Becky came for a week. It was a wonderful time together. Greg has a new job as Operations Officer for the Military Command for the South Pacific. He works for the Civil Service. He moderates movement of materials etc. in South Pacific. Has a girlfriend by the name of Tieemta. Steve's daughter Megan is 17 and living with him. She's transferring high schools and then plans to go to Johnson's Community College of Nursing. Becky and John won a trip to Puerto Rico. They recently moved into a very nice house. Cindy and Mark are just fine with no changes to report. Dean and Jerry went to Squaw Valley and Tahoe last November. Ron and Barb Davis met them there. Barb won $150.00 in the slot machine.
Ron Davis- Ron's laundry business is doing fine. Even though it is attended with 3 girls, Ron spends most of his time there. Barbara is still working (12 years) part time as an optometric tech. Tim is employed by Tri Valley Growers. He has a girlfriend, Pat, may be married before end of year. Jacob is 8 years old and Joshua is 6. Holly has her own business, H & J Process Serving. Her husband John is in the painting business. Her twins, Tiffany and Tara are 15 years old. Heidi works for Walden Books in Santa Monica, CA. She is single. Jeff and Maria are in Sacremento, CA. They are both going to Sacremento State - Jeff is in the Master's program in psychology and Maria is getting her B.A. in business administration.Robert Blaine- Robert and Jean are both retired now. Robert having some health problems but glad to be there. Bobby is a salesperson at St Claire. Ampy is a salesperson for Wyeth, a drug company. Michael and Isabel have no changes to report. Roger and Omelda - Roger is working at Omni Source. Susie is working at Lowes.
Amy Pressler- Molly finished her degree. She is a speech pathologist. It took 8 years to complete. Matt is Mr. Mom until he finishes his degree. Mindy is a senior at Bethel College. She and John will be married next summer. Nathaniel is in the 8th grade this year. Mike was in Indianapolis on business and couldn't attend. Randy had two kids married this year - Rob and Becky Smith married in June and Jill married Shane Meridith. Victor has three babies added to his family. Mary Laura born to Victoria, Hannah to Jennifer and Kari was born to Rebecca. Amy was happy to report that she went on an audit with the IRS representing a client and came out O.K.
During the business meeting a group of all the children led by Betsy Zeissig and Andrea Polly came out to do a little skit. In the skit, they spoke of how much fun a reunion is for a kid. They especially expressed appreciation for the pop. Then they held up a big sign thanking Larry and Dean Davis for providing the pop for the reunion as they yelled thanks as loud as they could. Most of the adults joined in showing their appreciation also. Hannah Manges recited a story of "The Scariest Thing that Ever Happened", then did a dance with acrobatics with Missy VonGunten. Val and Missy VonGunten then performed a dance to country music. Kasey Polly and a guest did a little comedy skit and Lynsee Davis sang a song. The talent is always a lot of fun for the adults and kids alike.
A letter recieved by President Marcy Zeissig was read. It was from Russell Davis and included a $50.00 donation to the reunion funds. Russell expressed his wishes that everyone have wonderful fellowship and that he wanted to help continue the Davis Reunion by making a donation to our funds. A thank you note will be sent expressing our great appreciation for his generosity. Discussion was held on location of the reunion for the following year. Everyone expressed great satisfaction for the current location. It was moved and seconded to return to Pretty Lake Resort. A motion was made and seconded to elect Kay Frey as President of the 1997-1998 reunions. The gavel was willingly passed. Collection plate was passed and the meeting was adjourned for a day filled with swimming, volleyball, tobogganing, and lots more food.
