Davis Family Reunion Minutes 1997

The 1997 reunion was held at Fox Island, an Allen county park in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on August 10.

The 1996 reunion minutes were read.

Robert N "Bob" Blaine deceased September 13, 1996.

Blaines: Alicia Sexton graduated from Elmhurst and is working at Kroger on Spy Run. She is out in her own apartment. Patrick Sexton graduated eighth from Queen of Angels 1996 - a freshman at Dwenger this year. Roger's wife TA is working at the Lutheran Hospital as a respiratory therapist.

Ruth Price still living where Burl and Ruth lived for years. Burl has been gone two years in April.

Dean Davis - Not much new. Dean and Jerry went to Annapolis for awhile on vacation. Greg still in Guam. No changes. Steve and Penny's family. Jonathan going into third grade. 8 years old. Megan graduated from Loursbrug High School in May and is planning to attend Johnson County Community College this fall. She took a weight training class her senior year and can now bench press 150 pounds. Cindy and Mark - Cindy having gall bladder surgery next week, so did not attend the reunion. No other changes. Becky and John - Becky is expecting her fourth child in September. Still living in Minnesota.

Dwight T Davis - Jim and Rosanne: Rosanne had back injury last October when finishing remodeling the house. A major event affecting our lives this year. Will continue home schooling this year. Ryan loves soccer, scouts, and piano. Another addition to our family this year is a leader dog puppy, Barclay, our job is to socialize him this year. Anna in 4-H and plays trombone. Ken and Nancy - Jenny graduated and accepted to UNC in clinical psycology program. Megan is on cheerleading squad. Matt switched to computer science. Ken's business is doing well. Bob and Kay: Betsy completing dental hygiene this year. Ben starting second year at IUPUI. He picked up a snowboard this year. Nate is envolved in baseball and football. Naomi continues to be homeschooled this year. Bob experienced a shooting at his workplace of a co-worker. Mike going back to Lincoln Life this September and will continue his home business, a consulting business. He is going to be moving. Fred and Karen - Carrie and Chad in CA. Chad done with goldsmithing/gemology school in September. Cris is trying to sell her house. She has been working and now wants to go to IPFW. Rod and Carolyn: Rod own business is doing well. Branson graduated from high school and will be attending Ball State this fall. Missy will be finishing at Hanover this year. Rod's son Phil switched from the University of Montana to an Indiana University. Marge has her house for sale. If it sells, she will be moving to Fort Wayne. Carole retired this year and spent the winter in Florida. Anne and Bill still in Seattle. They enjoy their boat. Craig and Judy built a new home on 5.5 acres in Huntington. John and Brenda continue to do well.

Smiths: Randy's new birth, Jeffrey Shane to Jill (Randy's daughter) and Shane Meredith. Rob (Randy's son) and Becky have been married one year and are currently living in Fort Wayne, IN. Amy's family: Mindy Pressler married John Tuckey on July 19th. Nathaniel starts high school and is in Snider marching band. Norman and Cece will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in September. Mindy graduated from Bethel College and is looking for a teaching position. Matthew Beer graduated from IN/Purdue and is looking for a job in social work. Jeff's family: Ted graduated from college. George graduated from high school. Ben finished a two year degree and will be married in August. Jeff moved to Aurora, Illinois. Doug's family: daughter Marie graduated from high school and will attend Ball State. Adam finished first year at Michigan State and received award in biology.

Bob Davis family: Larry: Jade's marriage to Lisa on July 19 in Park City, Utah. Jade still with United and Utah National Guard. Lisa is a consultant with Franklin-Covey. Wes doing great working at the shop. Stacey still doing well at Aetna. Claudia: working at Oaklawn this summer as a counselor and still in school at Goshen College. Nathan still at home, Jenny and Mandie and families are living in Elkhart. Marcy: Jason graduated high school and has been painting houses this summer. He may take some classes at a local college this summer. Betsy at Snider High School. She is very interested in TV broadcasting. Betsy will be taking drivers training this month. Robbie still at Blackhawk Middle School and he will have his Aunt Sue for a teacher this year. He plays basketball there, too. Tom and Marcy don't have changes to report. They're just hanging on for dear life with three teenagers. Julie: Josh graduated from Snider with plans to attend Ball State in the fall planning on graphic design. Jessica active in Snider with cheerleading, Madrigal choir, jazz choir, and campus life. Josh and Jessica both went to Puerto Rico on a missions trip this summer. Jessica also earned a $1000 scholarship to Bethel from her vocal competition at CDYC. Val will enter high school in the fall. She had some health problems this last year - diagnosed with Minional Change Kidney Disease which is treatable. Melissa entering fifth grade and is active in gymnastics. Steve took Julie to St Thomas - earning it from Aramark in sales. Julie in fourth year with Pampered Chef and loving it. Sue: Big news of the year is Sue finished her master's and daughter Brook was married to Paul Watts August 9. Casey and Dean had ball mania again this year. Shelley and Tim have a new little girl, Martha Joan, born in November. Tim is now with Essex and Shelly is at home with her kids. Peter is anxious to start back to preschool although he is having a wonderful summer. Hanna is a big help to her mom caring for Martha. Joan: Still at Lutheran working two ten hour days a week and spending alot of time being the best grandma I can be and enjoying every minute of it. I also had back trouble this year, but found a wonderful chiropractor, so I am almost back to normal. God has blessed me mightly with a great family so all is well in my life.

Entertainment: Jessica VonGunten sang a song. Lynsee Davis and Missy Vongunten also sang. Alex Beer said the "ABC"s.
