Davis Family Reunion: August 12, 2001
Roger Blaine called meeting to order at 2:35PM.
Dean Davis: Two from family.
Jerry & Dean had a vacation in the New England area. They celebrated their 50 th Wedding Anniversary, and Dean turned 70. Celebrated the anniversary at San Antonio. Dean had vascular surgery. Greg is still living at Guam. Steve & Penny are no longer working at the business any longer. Cindy is still at the hospital & bought a new house. Becky & John: John has a job at Nortel & moved back to the KS area. Megan had a daughter, Maci Jean Thomas, on June 7, 2001.
Victor Smith: Three from family.
Barry is still in Woodbridge, VA and is retired from the US Army. Rebecca is living at Grainger, IN. Victoria lives at Lexington, KY & has three children. Jennifer lives in Louisville, KY and has three children. We have 12 grandchildren. Been to Israel, & Costa Rica. We have bought an RV for traveling around. Willa was in town for her husband’s reunion in July. Marilyn is still living out in CT. Amy: Dad has prostrate cancer & problems with diabetes. Jeff has three new babies. Nathaniel has graduated from high school. Joe got married in July.
Ron Davis: Two from family.
Barb had a 45-year class reunion at Central High School. Tim & Pat worked at Tri-Valley & shut down plant. They sold the large house & bought a smaller house. Tim is at school for heating, AC, & refrigeration classes. Jake quit baseball. Josh’s team only took 2 nd place. Holly left John and is on her own and working in Modesto. The twins are in junior college. Heidi moved to West LA and is on her own and found a junior college that teaches clothes fabrication. Jeff is an assistant supervisor, and is going to be a supervisor, & is a trainer for all four offices, and is the liaison for agencies and his job. He placed from 18 to 72 kids this year. Marie changed jobs to director of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Ron was asked if the Laundromat was for sale since they are now retired. Ron & Barb went to Acapulco in November, and Florida in March. Barb’s cancer has come back after being confirmed by some neurological tests.
Dwight Davis: Nine from the family.
Jim Davis: Kay’s stepfather has been very ill. Nathan is going to welding school. Betsy is married. Ben is still at home. Naomi is at Adams Central. Kay is working part time, and is a reading specialist as a full time teacher. Ken is still in NC. Jim is still at Holland, MI. Anna is a junior in high school and went on a trip to Mexico. Ryan is being home schooled and will be a freshman. He will most likely continue in the home school program. Jim turned 50 this year & bought a sailboat. Fred and his wife are new grandparents, & oldest daughter is expecting again. Chris is a communications dispatcher. Karen is doing okay & hired new help. Fred has four years to go to retire, and Karen has been babysitting twice a week. Phil is living at Chicago & works for a casualty company. Missy graduated & is working in a personnel placement company. Mike is still going to school and has one more year in pastoral ministry.
Bob Davis: 14 from the family.
Marcy: Larry sold the business to son Wes. Stacey is going to college to study law. Larry is a deacon at church, & fully retired. Claudia has said that Jenny is a bartender. Mandy is in a new house with four children. Mandy is going to college. New grandbaby, Nathan. Claudia is still living in Nappanee, and wants to move to South Bend. She works with kids from seven to twelve years old with detachment disorders. Marcy was at Cancun & got sick from the water. Jason worked at Culligan & was laid off and will hopefully get called back. Jesse, Betsy, and Robbie will be juniors at Snider High School. Julie said that the old house at Big Long Lake was for sale. Got to go to Australia. Had been to Mexico for a mission trip. The oldest has graduated from Ball State. Jesse will be a junior & will be going to IPFW. Val graduated from high school and will be going to Ball State. Missy will be starting at Snider High School and will be a cheerleader. Sue is in Chicago today and could not be here with us today. Brook is going to IPFW for education. Casey will be starting at Snider HS and just got drivers license! Shelly reported that Georgia was born October 2, 2000. Shelly is at a seminar to try and keep marriage together. Pete was accepted on a photo shoot and will be in third grade. Tim was elected as a City Attorney for the City of Fort Wayne for a two-year term.
Jean Blaine: 8 from the family.
Jean said that for her it was pretty much “status Quo”. Started a part time sewing business at home sewing for Fido’s Finery. Susan is still at home. Jesse is working on his GED and getting his drivers license. Alicia is saving so that she can afford to move out on her own. Pat finally graduated and works at Deister. Bob is going through a separation and is out on his own and still working at Sinclair International. Mike is still working at the airport and Isabelle is a call nurse. Michelle will be a freshman at Northrup High School this year. James is starting first grade this year. Jean read a letter from Wilton & Mildred for all of us.
Reunion will be held at the same place as shown by a majority show of hands present.

Dean Davis moved to close the family meeting at 4:15PM and was seconded by the “ayes”.
